Powers off automatically

I have had this tablet for 3 weeks now and I've noticed that my tablet powers off when left idle for a long time and I've noticed this 4 times this past week. It was fine prior to that. Usually this is when I try to use it after coming home from work in the evening. Only way to get it going was to do a soft reset by holding down on the power button. Then it goes back to some previous saved state as I loose some of the recent apps. I haven't rooted it and my apps are either from Play or Amazon. I've done a factory reset to see if that helps. I should know in a few days.

Any one else see something similar? I've seen similar posts about other samsung galaxy devices in the past but couldn't find a solution. It's probably one of the apps that I've installed that's crashing it but dont know how to find the culprit.
 
Never happened to mine. But I only had it for 1 week so far.
 
Hey I joined this forum just so I could say I too am experiencing this very same issue. In fact, I returned my first unit believing it was faulty but my new unit does the same. I think the culprit must be an app...although I'm struggling to guess what. I have a funny feeling it may be the Hotmail app...my only other guess is Skype....

Will try a factory reset and avoid installing / using those apps. Will tell you how it goes...
 
I just bought a galaxy tab 7.0 plus which started to do random reboots after about a week of use. I have since learned that a lot of samsung devices suffer from this and all one can do is wait for a fix, possibly with ics. I was thinking of returning it in order to get the new tab 2 with ics which will be sold in Canada in about 3 weeks. Disappointed that even the galaxy tab 2 may suffer from this.
 
I haven't seen this issue after factory reset yet 3 days ago. One change so far is that I have uninstalled Hackers Keyboard. I had a feeling it could be this.

I haven't used skype yet although I remember that skype would hang when trying to end calls. I'll use it later today and see how it goes.
 
I did a factory-reset too; it has been 4 days now without a re-occurrence of the issue. I have not used Skype yet...will give that a go tonight. Other than that, the tab is working perfectly.....I can only assume it is an app-related issue.
 
For the record, i have used skype on mine and i have never had this issue. My guess is, that is not what is causing it for you
 
Mine actually just shut off last night when my battery was at about 11%. I had to plu it in and wait and it still didnt want to come back on. It powered back up about 5 minutes later
 
I have had my GT 2 since May, and am also using SKYPE - NO self shut down problems. Should be a combination of other factors.
 
After a week of testing each app one by one, I have found that Skype is not the problem; it actually turned out to be Google Currents. After installation and use,my tablet automatically powered off that night. Uninstalling solved the issue. I tried again and the same problem happened. Can anyone else confirm?
 
Hmm I can say that I did install google currents prior to the factory reset when I had the issue. I have uninstalled it after restoring all the apps.
 
I did just install google currents and a day or two later is when mine shut down. Hasnt happened again since but if it does i will uninstall currents
