I have a Samsung Galaxy S II, the GT-I9100, which has Android 2.3.4 build GINGERBREAD.XWKI4. It was bought in the UK, it's off-network, unbranded and unlocked and now has a Vodafone UK sim card in it. I have rooted it.
ICS is expected soon. I would quite like to wipe the phone and get rid of everything as it hasn't been wiped since I got it last April. However, I do want to keep some things, for example:
- My settings in many apps, e.g. Angry Birds progress, saved games etc.
- My contacts and messages.
- Various photos, videos and downloads. I will back these up onto my desktop manually.
I know there are some backup apps, but I don't know much about them and I don't know if I can back up something in Gingerbread, restore it into ICS and have it work fine.
I will want to root ICS too, if that matters.
What should I do to be ready to do the upgrade as soon as it's available?
