Pre-Purchase Advice Request (Sprint Upgrade)

With our Sprint upgrade, my wife and I can get (2) Conquer 4G phones for a total of $49.99. On the surface, this seems like a good value for an entry level 4G phone, and we're in a good WiMax coverage area. After poking around though, it seems to be about the least popular device on the market. Very little community support, no custom ROMs, kernels, etc.

The Conquer represents a big upgrade from my BB (obviously I'm not an early adopter), and the price point makes it an easy sell for the wife. Bottom line, I want to be able to make calls, send texts, stream Pandora, and run a few geeky apps like Sky Map.

In your opinion, is this phone worth picking up as a 2-year stopgap to get acclimated to the Droid platform or should I opt for something else? Thanks in advance for your advice!

personally I would wait for just a little bit more. Newer phones are about to be released which are much better than the current ones (Quad Core, LTE Support, etc)

For that price it is hard to go wrong with the conquer 4g. If you were willing to spend a bit more money it would behoove you to go with either the evo 3d or motorola photon because both of those phones will be getting ice cream sandwitch and are going to give you a much better user experience.

If you are dead set on the $50 price point by all means go for it.
But if you are willing to go the extra mile and pay around $100 a piece go for a photon or an evo3d
