Help Preceding Msg Modified

On messaging on my Fascinate I am getting "Preceding Msg Modified"? Is there anyway to resolve this issue. The text I am getting are not that long, not sure why they are being split?

i usually get that message if i go over the 160 character limit or if im sending mms to a phone that cant handle mms or if im using emoticons sometimes.
