Predicament

Lurker
Hi, first time poster. My predicament is that my contract would end on the 16th of May, and unfortunately I cannot wait pass May for the GS2. So my question is that since I'll be switching to AT&T, which phone would you guy might recommend that would have the same specs if or lightly similar to that of the GS2, preferably one with better camera quality, and one that have more than 512mb of rom. Thanks.

The closest thing to an SGS2 would be the Motorola Atrix on AT&T. The camera isn't as good, nor the screen, and it is slower, but it is higher resolution, has a dual-core processor, and is available now and can be had for $99 from BestBuy/Amazon/reseller or $199 straight from At&t. However, there have been more than a handful of people returning the phone to get the HTC Inspire instead. The Inspire is only single-core and has lower resolution, but the screen is much better/sharper looking and the speed seems on par with the dual-core Atrix on day-to-day usage. It also has a much more premium and heavier aluminum body. It can be had for $99 from At&t.

Neither of these phones are as high-specced or as fast as the SGS2, but they are available now which seems to be your one stipulation.

That's some predicament. If you MUST buy a phone now on ATT, then yes, chocobo has it right. Either the Atrix or the Inspire is definitely your best bet (if you want android, there's always the dark side...). Inspire is a great phone from what I've heard; but yes, it is only a single core, but the phone seems speedy enough. The atrix has better specs than the Inspire, but motorola really made it clunky with it's ui and crapware. Hopefully the devs can crack the bootloader and root the thing. Only then will the atrix be truly what it was meant to be.

So, if I were in you're shoes, I would get the atrix due to it's POTENTIAL to be a great smartphone (once it is cracked by the devs).
