Preparation for Inspire 4G

psp1mp

Newbie
Hi! I ordered my Inspire 4G a few days ago, and was wondering what sort of programs/tools I would need to modify the phone for the better. Some threads would be much obliged also, as I'm not even entirely sure what the Android OS is capable of entirely, so hopefully you guys can help. :D

It's pretty much a matter of personal preference as to what apps or whatever will make your phone, your phone.

But to start you might want to consider an app called juice defender to help with the battery life.
There is a app called zedge which is great for wallpapers and ringtones
Another thing I think is a necessity is astro file manager. Makes looking for things on your sd card way easier to find.

Other than that prepare yourself for endless tinkering

thanks! what about tethering? is there anything i need to know? just basics, what is, how to, etc.

Tethering is a feature that you are supposed to pay for. To get a data plan plus tethering it would be $45 /month (att charges $25 for the 2gb data plan + $20 for 2gb of tethering even though there is no known way to any user (or att that anyone knows of) even if you have an unltd data plan you lose it if you sign up for tethering.

There was a thread on how to access tethering without calling att but it's iffy if they can tell you are using it so it's use at your own discretion. I'll try and find it for you.

Ah found it

thank you! :D

sorry for the double post, but i put my 8 gig micro sd card in, and the inspire doesnt see it. in the top left, it has a sd card with a question mark next to it. i would assume that i need to either format the card or something else. what do i do?

When you tap menu-settings - sd & phone storage, under sd card does it say unmount or mount sd card?

well, it says its damaged. i hit to format it, the box disappears, then it doesnt do anything.
it says mount, which i hit, then it doesnt do anything.

well, now i got the sd card working, but when i use bubbys tool, it tells me it cant find the cid and to make sure the drivers are installed.
im running 64 bit windows 7, htc sync is not uninstalled, drivers are also installed, sd card is formatted.

even if your sd card is broke i was at walmart today and they have a 16gb microsd card for 29.99 i didnt look at the speeds or anything
