Preparing ATT for international Sim

mstng

Lurker
New to Android and have an att gs2. Will be in Nepal/India next month and want to use a local provider. (Ncell) What am I required to do in order to get it to work. Root? Unlock?

This forum is for the Samsung Galaxy SII (International) phone.

You might be better asking this question on the Samsung Galaxy SII (AT&T) forum as the handset does differ slightly from the International and could be sim locked to AT&T. If not, there's no reason you couldn't just pop a local sim in and away you go.

Thanks....I also did the att forum. So many more people here that may know something. How would one know if it's locked?

I suppose the simple answer is to try another service providers sim card in it.

AT&T users on the forum should be able to tell you if AT&T lock their handsets.

Judging by the reply you've had on the AT&T forum it looks like they do sim lock their handsets.
