Root Preping to install CM7 (got a question)

Hey everyone, This is going to be my first time doing anything like this to a stock phone. Looking forward to seeing what CM7 can do for my Triumph.

After reading the instructions on the "[GUIDE] Installing CWM and a custom ROM on the Motorola Triumph " thread, in the installing clockwork recovery mod section, it says after you plug your MT into your computer you will see a drive labeled "mobile".

Will this be the name of the drive after booting into download mode? Right now, before i have done anything, i plug my phone into the computer and the drive is named "CD Drive (G) CDROM" 0 bytes free of 4.73 MB. When i click on it, it goes to the Phone F USB Driver Setup Wizard and gives me the choice of repairing the driver or removing the driver.

Do i not have something installed right? or is this what i should be seeing?

I know this is a very basic question that i am unsure of, but i just want to make sure i have everything i need working right before i start this process. I would hate to get started and be missing something and not know how to back out without causing major problems.

You won't see the MOBILE drive for the recovery unless you are in download mode.

Yes, it is what it is called in download mode. It isn't the same as mounting usb storage with your phone.

Unplug ur device from the computer. Hold the volume button down key simultaneously with the power button. Hold it until you see incoming download mode on your phone . Now plug cable to phone on the other end to computer. Now you will see the mobile directory on your computer.

i dont remember plugging in my phone into the computer when installing CWM..infact i never plugged my phone into the comp.lol wasnt there another method?

not that I know of... There are other ways for other phones but for the MT I'm pretty sure you need a computer.

sounds like your talking about a zip file that installs CWM recovery somehow, which i dont think ive ever seen

the only way ive ever seen to get CWM Recovery on the phone to be able to flash it was setting it to download mode, then connecting to a pc, then replacing the Stock Recovery or Recovery.img with the CWM one

You should watch this tutorial video by Minus5252. It explains on how to install CWM step by step.

Yes, i always forget to tell people that lol Minus5252 have a whole wave of videos strictly for this phone and he shows you how to install almost all things on this site step by step

Got CM7 working perfectly. I did check out his videos on the [ROM] CM7 TG-Reloaded (Final: 03-25) thread.

I just happened to plug the phone into the puter to see what was on the SD card before i started, and i didn't see what i thought i was suppossed to. Didn't realize the folder would look different in download mode. It was easier than i thought it was going to be. Just may take some time to get used to it and check it all out.

Maybe i'll try to flash some of the other Roms and try them out too.
