Prevail's GPS Accuracy

This was with maps, inside a building, with network based location turned off (not working correctly on the ROM i am using)

(And yes I'm in Chicagoland today lol)
Did you have wifi on? (even if not connected to internet, it still improves accuracy)

Yes, I have wi-fi on, still 30m from Google maps. Which rom are you using? Any others that get better than 30m on the Prevail? I am trying to figure out if it is something wrong with the phone or if 30m is the best that the Prevail can do with its own GPS.

That is with the miui ROM, but i had about the same results with all the ROMs i have flashed.

try this,
download this and copy/paste it to /system/etc
It will ask you to overwrite the old file, say yes and then reboot. See if it improves your accuracy.

Thanks but I still get 30m. What accuracy other people are getting?

10 meters with wifi on, 30 meters with wifi off. It still shows me the correct room in the house that i'm sitting when I zoom in.

Will this work for any rom?

I managed to get 20m with Wi-Fi on; The GPS Test still shows 30m, I guess that the best for the Prevail. I wish it was better because sometimes the GPS gets confused on intersections.

Yup. Best thing to do is look at the GPS map before you get to an intersection and make sure you know which way to turn.(lol). It's rare but I've had maps do a couple 360's when sitting at an intersection for too long.:D It may be due to interference in those areas, who knows.

The Prevail GPS is fine for me in most cases, but if I were in a strange city in a lot of traffic I would stick with my old Garmin any day.

In three different roms: HalfAss, CT, and rooted stock, and with and without the gps.conf from the download link above I still do not get any better than 90ft of accuracy in an open space with clear sky (and at least 8 strong satellite signals). Any ideas? BTW, Lord do you still get 15ft without the Wi-Fi?

IT used to be really good then I flashed 3.5 and had read about people having problems with it and I dod as well. I'll check out that file to see if it gets better

Thats the best I can get at home.

Thanks. There is definitely an issue with my phone's GPS. I do not know what else to try, I have tried different ROMs, different gps.conf files, and using the GPS reset command.

It looks like that you are using CM7, would you mind pointing me to the thread with the installation files for that? there are several and I am a little bit confused which thread has it.
