Prevent auto turn on of apps?

Hey people, I just installed the GB rom to my phone. I was wondering if there is any way to prevent random apps from starting. Every time I open my Advance Task Manager, there are all these apps open that I never opened. Was wondering if there was any apps/setting that I could control things from auto starting. Thanks!

I would not worry about what apps open when you first boot up. This is how the android os works. Things run in the background for a reason. If you are concerned about what app is running? Go menu>settings>applications>running services. Here you will find what apps are running and how much memory is being used. You can press stop, but be aware, some apps need to run in the background so...... stopping them could have dire consequences:eek:

Thanks for the input! I'm not concerned about apps that need to be running. I was wondering if there is a way to stop game apps and things like that that I've downloaded.

Like andygu3 was saying, you do not need to stop apps from running in Android. Android is based on Linux and it intelligently knows when to kill apps running in the background to free up RAM so something else can make use of it.

Apps that are in memory and not in the foreground are generally asleep and not wasting CPU cycles, and thus battery, unless they are actively doing something in the background. You really do not need to manage this yourself because Android manages it well enough for you.
