Price drop in near future?

The wife and I are coming up on our upgrade date for Verizon, we were planning on going with the Note 2's.

Does anyone think with the S4 coming out the note 2 will drop in price at that point?
 
cool. Was planing on getting it at Best Buy (singed up for their gift card promo earlier this year.)

So price match should take care of the differences.
 
We happen to like Big Reds network. Though Sprint is sounding better with the news of Dish offering to buy them (I work for Dish). Don't know.
 
Just switched from Sprint to Verizon & BB met Amazon price of $99.99 for new account. Decided to try Geek Squad equipment protection (no deductible & $169.98 for 2 years coverage) instead of Verizon monthly charges w/ $200 deductible for this device. Also traded in my Samsung Galaxy S2 for $120 (BB gift card used immediately to reduce cash outlay) so overall I got a good deal = walked out the door for $155.97 including the sales tax!

The deal suited me & am enjoying my Note 2. Battery is great.
 
IF you're jumping to Sprint, then you need to wait for Note 3. By the end of this year, i believe Sprint will open up other LTE frequencies (800 Mhz being the big one!). Right now, Note 2 and all Sprint phones only connect to LTE 1900 Mhz. So, when Sprint turns on LTE 800 & 2500 Mhz, all of today's phones can't use those frequencies...yes, you still have LTE (if avail now) but only on the 1900 band. LTE 800 is the good stuff...more building penetration...aka you can actually use LTE inside your house/workplace! Now, this is all assuming that Sprint upgrades their LTE towers in your area to include the 800 Mhz band. If you can get LTE now, then you will get the upcoming frequency bands. If you do not have LTE now, then you are out of luck at least for now.

But, my point is that by the end of this year, most Sprint phone will be tri-band LTE (800, 1900, and 2500), which should only improve LTE signal & coverage on your phone. So, by end of this year, i will get either Note 3 or iPhone 5S, preferrably Note 3...but whichever has tri-band LTE.

Bumping this because I am wanting to do the same thing and get the Note 2. How does Best Buy price match from Amazon? Do I need to take anything in to show them or do they look it up in the store? I'm on a family plan with Verizon, would going through Best Buy change anything on our plan? I've been waiting for Verizon to drop the price for awhile now and they are still not budging.
 
The last time i did BB price matching with Amazon, they look it up at the store. You just need to tell them to match price and they do it themselves.

Good to know that Best Buy is still doing price matching on phones. They changed their price match policy more recently, so I know it's not quite as great as it used to be.

I eventually trimmed down my Sprint Note 2 to $99 + tax, after 3 different price matches within the 45 day (Silver Rewards) period. I'm not Silver Premier at Best Buy anymore, but I think they're doing away with that anyway and I believe the price match is only applicable at time of purchase now. I could be wrong, but that was my understanding. I believe they'll still refund, if Best Buy itself, lowers the price (after the fact).

Jut picking up this slightly older thread.
Don't forget that you don't HAVE to go on contract with a carrier.
Right now the GN2 is retailing for plus/minus $550 on amazon. You buy it outright, unlocked, no contract, and go to Straight Talk for $45 per month.
I don't have any affiliation with Straight Talk, just kind of amazed that folks are still willing to pay $110/month to ATT or V for data/text/voice. To me, I'd rather pay $550 for the phone and save $65 per month. You pay off that $149 pretty quickly! Just over two months and then your saving over half on monthly charges. Just sayin...

Reason they'd rather pay for ATT/t-Mobile/Sprint/Verizon versions = LTE. There is no current GSM unlocked Note 2 that is compatible with any of the domestic US LTE radios.

Are you sure its a $200 deductible through VZW? I was told it was $100. My wife's iPhone on the other hand is $180 and is $10/month
 
Wellp, we got our phones, and they are awesome, regrettably Best Buy no longer price matches on contract phones. so no help there. on top of it we would have lost our Grandfathered anyway due to getting the wife's mom on a smart phone as well (a G S3).

Still learning how to use this beast of a phone, but loving it so far. (Only thing I miss from the Droid is the smart action app, but that seems to be a Motorola only thing.)
