Price Drop

I wonder if they even have them in stock. Also I wonder why they are dropping the price. Maybe because of the connect?

At first I thought it was to compete with Let's Talk, which has been selling the Esteem for $278 since January 2, and then I saw that Let's Talk has also reduced its price back to $248 or $249, which was their price before January 2 (these are currently "in stock" according to the site).

I hope that is a sign that perhaps Metro will be either reducing its price or offering an instant rebate on the Esteem in the near future when the Connect becomes available. Maybe I'm the only one, but I just don't do mail-in rebates (had bad experiences with them in the past) and am somewhat leery about buying a cell phone a third-party online retailer (will I need to send the phone back if there is a problem, assuming that a Metro corporate store will not help if they did not sell me the phone?).

I bought my Esteem through Wirefly earlier this month for $299. It was brand new and I have not had any problems. They also have $5 monthly insurance just like Metro. I think it's safe, but I understand your suspicion. The phone is still from MetroPcs itself.

Sorry I missed the q. Yes, if there were a problem, you'd ship the phone back to WF via FedEx which THEY pay for.

Thanks for the info on Wirefly's policy on problem phones, especially the fact that they would pay for the return shipping. I'd prefer to buy from a Metro store directly (to avoid these potential hassles and put my money directly into Metro's coffers), but if Metro doesn't lower the price of the Esteem or make the rebate an instant one within the next couple of weeks I will be ordering from an online supplier. Both Let's Talk and NewEgg have the Esteem at $249 now, but I have no idea whether these two companies are as reputable as Wirefly ($268) when it comes to cell phones (it seems that Wirefly is the online supplier mentioned most often here).

I was literally about to hit the confirm button on LetsTalk before I saw this thread and saw that the Esteem is $268 again on Wirefly with no tax and free shipping, a dollar less than LetsTalk after they added 20 bucks for Texas tax. Glad I saw this I'm getting it on Wirefly.

Is it possible to get MetroPCS to switch the insurance on my Optimus to the Esteem even though it wasn't bought from their store? I don't want Wirefly taking 5 dollars out of my checking account per month and I don't have the extra 50 for year-long protection.

Edit: In other news, Metro has it online for $299 after a $50 instant discount instead of mail-in.

Edit again: Not sure if plugging coupon codes is allowed so I'll link you to the source. On the official Wirefly coupon site (Wirefly Coupons & Wirefly Coupon Codes ? Wirefly.com) they have a code for a free 4GB MicroSD card that works. :)

Wireflys insurance is actually a better deal if I remember correctly. There's no deductible with theirs.

Coupons codes are welcomed as long as their legit ;)

Thanks for all the contributions everyone. You guys are great!

And no, I think you have to purchase the phone directly from MPCS in order to have their insurance. And 299 isn't bad, for that reason, imo. @awhite.

@amazin1998 sometimes the pricing varies by region/zip code on WF but either way, you scored a great deal.

I've got Metro insurance on mine and bought it from Wirefly.. Haven't used it yet though soooooo I can't say anything about making a claim on it.. Actually that reminds me I need to cancel one or the other lol.. Have it with wirefly also.. Whenever I first activated it though Metro asked if I wanted it, I said ya, they said ok..

Thanks I got mine on its way from Wirefly with the extra 4 GB microSD card :D. Didn't see a reason Metro wouldn't offer insurance since it is one of their phones after all but even if they don't I'm not going to raise too big of a fuss over it. Never had to make a claim on my insurance either thankfully but glad to know it was there. Wirefly also has 2 GB free data backup so that's a plus.

I literally have a tab open and pinned waiting for the UPS tracking number. Off to edit my devices list!
