If all these insane specs are true, there is no way this thing is going to be at a price point I want to pay for a phone. I saw 1100 mentioned a few times too.

Looking at the specs I'm seeing lots of places compare it to a gaming PC heh, which, it's not far from. Is this hype building or ... what. Is it just me, does it feel a little bit extreme - or is it the constant race to top yourself and everyone else in everything you release happening here.

Don't get me wrong, I love the note series, have loved all my Notes, and plan to stick with it but - holy hell! 16 Cores, 8GB, 4K, 30/16MP cameras, .. 1100 bucks.. I'll have to sell my Nikon D7000 and 4K TV to get this gad boy!
 
$1100? In recent years I've spent ~$450ish for phones that I keep for at least two years. I have a hard time imagining that the Note 6 would continue to be relevant in the almost five years that it would take for that to make sense financially. :p
 
I can't see the Note 6 full price being over $1,000, that's simply too much for a phone with a 3 year lifespan.

The 64 GB version of the Galaxy S6 Edge+ is about $900 and even that is too much. Then again most people will do a payment plan at $30 - $35 a month and may not realize the full cost.
 
That price would be a deal breaker for me. Im a sim only user, my devices are fully mine. Paying the full price of $1,100 would a no go, and way passed an unwritten line of what is acceptable for a thing I take everywhere in my pocket.
 
I'd buy it. The more I can take the capabilities of my full blown desktop machine with me, the more I like it and the more I can rely on it being able to serve my needs the same way. If I could replace my desktop machine with a dock that gave me a monitor, keyboard and mouse, charging and perhaps even a local storage device to grab a 'time machine' type of backup of my 'phone', heck yeah! :)
 
With the speed that phones become outdated, that's too pricey for my taste. My phones at the current price do everything I need. I wouldn't personally need a full desktop experience from a phone, so the cost wouldn't be justified to me. And even if it was, they'd be pushing a new model the next year anyway and it'd be time to fork out another $1200 to get the latest features.

I'm sure it will be a solid device, but I'll never find out for that price. Maybe they could release two versions. One without windows capability that competes as a normal smartphone for normal flagship prices, and a premium model that integrates desktop mode for a higher price?
 
Sorry I don't see the note 6 being more than $700, maybe it $800 but I seriously doubt it will break the $900 mark.
 
Looking more like the $1100 price point is a way high estimate for this year. Maybe next year, with Samsung working on a foldable screen, the Note 7 may come in a more expensive, folding model. I'll take a SWAG that this year's Note 6 will come in at around $750 for the 32GB version and $850 for the 64GB version.
 
The only reason I will be possibly waiting 2 to 3 months is if the phone is locked down to the point where I don't want it in that form. Not that I have an extra $900 laying around burning a hole in my pocket, just that a hundred or two more than any other flagship phone isn't going to derail me most likely.
 
I do not foresee a lot of early development for the Note 7, especially since the Verizon and AT&T versions will most definitely have encrypted bootloaders. Android Pay and Samsung Pay won't work with rooted devices, and I kind of like paying with my phone (it's easy, convenient and super cool). Maybe there will be some ROMs for the GSM version... and I wish you guys well with that.

Cost-wise, I set aside a bit each month into my tech fund for new gadgets, so the money is in the bank for a launch day purchase... which I hope is August 3rd :D

except, maybe the cost. Is it worth paying a lot more if Samsung beefs up the Retail on it - NOT for me. They will only make me enjoy my perfectly working NOTE 3. Yup, I can 'power off', change my battery, 'power on' in 34 seconds and enjoy 100% power. It'll take a lot more than what the NOTE 7 will NOT do for me.

Seems like Samsung may be trying to milk prices of their phones upward to the point where I just draw the line. I'm a Mom & Pop - sole proprietor business and can't afford this scheme since I bought my last two phones outright to keep my Verizon unlimited plan (which I'm lovin'). I guess I'll hold out to see what the NOTE 8 brings that may actually have new USEFUL features.

I learned it's best to avoid the lackluster pre-order route and started taking advantage of buying outright through Verizon on Black Friday when they do the silent $100.00 off sale. I bought my NOTE 3 for $599 which I look back at and consider a steal since it still ticks as good as the day of unboxing. This way I monitor what the message board reviews bring for a few months after launch. If there's issues or nothing spectacular about it, I simply don't buy the new model. I Win - Samsung loses $$$.

I hope I don't yawn too much when I check back to see what your experiences are with the NOTE 7, like I had to with the NOTE 4 & 5.

I agree pretty much with the sentiment. I've been oohed & aahed since the Note3 myself & feel I've wasted my money trying out all the Notes since then.
I can appreciate the excitement for the next iteration,it will be a nice phone,but,the iris scanner & curved edges with the Note7 are not doing a thing for me & I definitely will not be an opening day participant.
The price of admission is too high for what,IMHO,are new features that are little more than the proverbial spaghetti thrown at the wall.
Perhaps a few months from now & even then,I have my doubts.My Note4 is holding up fine & has features that are useful & will be MIA on the Note7...................

GREAT ANALOGY!

The NOTE 7 appears to be just another 'limp noodle'.

My ROI on the NOTE 3 and yours on the NOTE 4 will be better than money in the stock market.
 
I envy you with your Note3. I still have mine too but it doesn't work so well and hasn't since the update to Kitkat. I hoped Lollipop would fix it but it didn't. It doesn't make phone calls without rebooting first...every time. And it loses that signal if I breath wrong. And incoming calls go to voice mail even when I swipe to accept. What good is a a phone that doesn't make phone calls? I hope the Note7 will be my perfect phone for years to come. That is the plan anyway.
 
I got a Dev edition N4 last august, and honestly it is not really any nicer than my N3. I do think the N7 is looking like a worthwhile upgrade for me however. The waterproofing alone is pretty big for me. After handling a friends S7 for a while a couple weeks back, I actually liked the curved edges and felt like the S7 is an awesome phone. In some ways I wish I had it instead of my N4. I also will not be getting the N7 on release day, but I have never been one to get a phone on release day. I always wait a month or two so I can read real world experiences from people with the phone.
 
Flash a custom ROM, I had my Note 3 with a Note 5 ROM on it and worked great

Most rumours over here say 799 Euro which is quite a bit more than I'm willing to pay for a phone so will wait a few months after release day and hopefully it will drop a bit

It's a bit late for me I'm afraid to flash. I moved on to a Moto XPE which does fine until I can upgrade. I have kept my N3 as an emergency backup for which I am very grateful this week as my Moto's screen failed and it had to be sent in for warranty repair. While the repair was completely free including shipping, a week without a phone would have been disastrous. At least my N3 works fine from home, just nowhere else, and I am on medical leave at the moment. Good timing. I will be trading in my N3 though when I upgrade and keeping the MXPE as my backup plan going forward.
But thanks for the suggestion. I will keep it in mind if I ever have the problem on another phone. Not necessarily this custom ROM but to look for one. I didn't think I could do that on a non-rooted phone.
