price through wirefly

Hey just wondering what you guys think the price of the captivate will be upon release. The aria is 130 from ATT and its free. So I was just wondering what the price of this will be.

Whelp, AT&T said no pre-order thru them, so who knows... Gonna be checking around @ BestBuy & so forth end of next week...

well i'm thinking thru wirefly it could be as low as $100 or even $50
i'm hoping anyway
if it goes that low i'll exchange my aria. if not, i'm satisfied with that

If I wanted to upgrade from my old BlackBerry Bold to this, would there be any way to get a discount through companies like Best Buy or Wirefly? Are these discounts usually for new lines/plans only?

Well I got one situation, I was available for upgrade since mid last year. But my wife needed a new phone a few months ago so I let her 'use' my upgrade for her phone number at the AT&T store...

If I purchase through best buy can they use my wifes upgrade (which is now available) or do I need to use the AT&T store for that magical hokey pokey?

Upgrading through Wirefly would allow me to get the cheaper price and allow me to keep my unlimited data plan, correct?

Just saw that the Vibrant (T-mobile) is available for preorder on Wirefly for $150, so that should give an idea of their Captivate pricing. I was hoping for more of a discount.

What is Wireflys policy on returns? Do they have restocking fees?

I am presuming if a phone goes bad, a person would handle warranty directly with T-Mobile. Correct?

Oh, regarding the discount: I see in small text at the bottom it says "With a new plan...". That would mean to me that an existing customer would not get that price.

If you start the preorder process and change your status from new contract to existing contract/upgrade it's still $150, so at least they're giving the slight discount to everyone. I'm not a TMO customer so I didn't play around with it too much to see what the options were. I'm waiting on the Captivate.

Interesting to know. I too am waiting on the captivate. Given that it is available in 8 days, I'd think preordering should show up pretty soon.

I'm still curious if purchase from Wirefly, as opposed to locally, would present any extra hassle for handling warranty, or outright return.

I bought my w580i from Wirefly several years ago and the local AT&T store handled it when the headphone jack stopped working (free replacement) so I assume it would work the same for the Captivate. But maybe I was just lucky with that phone and situation? They definitely had a date in their system that I would no longer be covered, and the headphone jack stopped working about a month before the deadline.

We only warranty phones that you buy directly from ATT. If you got one replaced then like you said, you got lucky.

So...an AT&T phone is only warranted by AT&T if purchased from AT&T.

No impressed with AT&T on this, but then not surprised either.

It was the same way when I worked for Verizon. Unless you bought the phone directly from a corporate store we offered no warranty. It was up to the authorized reseller to provide the warranty.

OK.

On the topic of where to purchase/Pre-order.

Nobody is doing pre-orders for the Captivate that I can find. Went to BB and ATT today, and both said they would not be taking preorders. At ATT, interestingly, they didn't even know it was to be available next Sunday. They had to make a call do find out.
