I have three Windows 7 Home Premium machines on my home Network. 2 x HP desktops (identical 64 bit machines) and one Dell laptop (32 bit), all on the same Workgroup and all with the same subnet mask i.e. 255.255.255.0. The desktops are Ethernet connected to the network and the laptop by wifi.
Attached to the desktops are two USB printers. One an HP Photosmart 8250 and attached to the other desktop is an Epson R1800. Only the Photosmart is shared and therefore can be used, and is used by all three machines. The Epson is restricted to the desktop to which it is attached.
I also have a Galaxy S2 smartphone on which is installed PrinterShare 7.7.5 Premium. I cannot get to the Photosmart printer (this printer is listed on the PrinterShare website as compatible) with PrinterShare. I can use the Epson from PrinterShare; rather expensive for just documents.
When I open PrinterShare I see the Workgroup and the three machines in that Workgroup. However only one shows a printer i.e. the HP desktop with the Epson attached.
If I try to select the machine with the Photosmart attached I eventually get a dialog box asking "Authorization required" Login and password needed. I have no idea what I should put in these boxes.
I used to use PrinterShare successfully when I had the same Photosmart printer connected to a Vista 32 machine - 64bit HP replaced that.
Any advice please?
