Has anyone else noticed that if you manually update to any of the 3g prl's battery life sucks and speed is slower then normal. Also the phone will not send pictures

My battery is the same after getting the 3G prl, and i can send pics and my speed is actually quick as hell
. So maybe its just where you live?

Possibly I live in california and,my 3g icon is always,on but I have,to disabe my data except when using it if I want my phone to last 5 or more hours

If your rooted just use an app like juicedefender, I've gone 8 hours starting from 100% to 80%+. Totally worth itt.
Haven't noticed any battery drain issues, but any speed test I do is horrible. The web is faster but I'm getting 3 kbps - 40 kbps if I'm lucky. I had this same problem shortly after finally getting 3g, but it started testing semi normal after the app was updated (150-225 kbps), but now its not giving accurate tests again. Seems the tests don't start until its like 80% done, then when it finally starts it only goes for a second or two.

Same exact issue here in port st Lucie,fl.I tried updating my gf's prlthis morning after my buddy told me he has been getting 3g all day. After *228,prl stayed 3019 writing 5 hours the phone it updated itself to 3025. I get your exact scenario when running the speed test though. Web seems a tab bit faster. But It's def not legitimate 3g...but and kind of boost is good. I'm not complaining.
Now if I can just get my prl situated on my evo.by default it reads the Sprint prl that the phone used to have. So I guess I need to hook it up to qpst to r/w to see what's good.
What kind of speed increases are u guys seeing? Before and after.

I've been getting somewhat good speeds. Like 400-800 kbps. Market loads like in 5 seconds tops. And downloads of 5mb+ take no more than a minute. I don't even miss the 1x anymore
. But then again on speedtest, the nearest place was in Connecticut. Yet I live in New Jersey. People got the nearest place as Clifton which is making me mad cause i live 2 miles away from there and like 80 miles from CT. IM MAD BRAH.

Omfg I updated my evos prl last night,I was Max at 68 kbps before the prl update,after I'm getting like 1040 kbps. This is simply amazing. Haven't hooked my phone up to wifi yet today.

3025...what part of PSL?? im right by bayshore and airoso..but if i hit down like becker area,it slows down alot..im pretty sure our closest tower is right by village green
but im also on my evo with the latest 3025 PRL..maybe the EVO gets better 3g speed??? i dk,my girls optimus gets false reading on speedtest.net app...the browser is super fast and so are the apps,but the speed reads like 30kbps....i dk but its an improvement

yeah it might be the speedtest app cause I get around 50kps, im going to try editing some build.prop things to see if there's any improvement.
Edit: wow well the lines that im supposed to edit in my build.prop dont even exist? This 3g thing is pissing me off now that I hear its supposed to be fast!!!

He's also using an Evo and I've heard that flashed phones don't get capped.

Damn. That would explain why my evos speed is sick compared to my girls optimus,which is still much faster but nowhere near mine...where did u hear that? Any idea why?

I rooted my friends optimus m and his prl is 3019. I had him *228 and he is only getting 1x signal. Would it hurt to try *228 again?

Not really you are only going to end up with 3019 by dialling 228. Only way you get anything newer is if it is pushed to the phone ota, or you flash a new prl.
Sorry to sound rude especially if you just came to this forum for the first time, but I feel like this conversation has been had in EVERY thread for the last 3 months. I dont know. But yeah 228 wont do you much

Nope, not taken as rude, its rather to be expected, as people come and go from forums in waves/cycles..... Thanks so now I just need to go and search the programs to update the prls through pc.....
