Root PRL Swap

I am tethered to my PC right now (just testing it, works great) and noticed that Speed Test routes to Kansas and I live in california. I figured a PRL swap might fix this issue and possible increase data speeds.

I haven't tried yet, but does anyone see a problem with this method?

1. Open Ports via ##PORT#
2. Launch QPST Config and flash new PRL that people use with the Triumph/V

Virgin's servers are in Kansas City. That's why speedtest keeps using it to check your speeds.

correct, but on my triumph after a PRL swap it would ping much closer, and it would hookup to 3g a lot faster out of airplane mode or toggling 3g, or wifi.

oh ok i didnt no that, this may sound like a dumb question but does the speed test app actually work?

Edit: BTW i got wifi thether working

Just swapped prl, I will let you know how it works out.

Gary

I've been running on 6167.prl that I used on my optimus V since friday! The data seems to be more reliable and consistant from what was on the elite. Speeds are still slower than I would expect and at times upload speed is faster than download speeds which was the case before changing the prl. I wil be calling VM to find out why the data is messed up on this phone.

I have changed my PRL to the newest Sprint one I could find which is 60687. Everything seems about the same to me as far as cell signal and data speeds

I wonder if there is a difference in speed between the two :P

I haven't noticed a speed increase but it seems more reliable and stable, connects faster and has a better connection at work where it was very unreliable at best.

I am using a hybred prl 61677 not sure if there is a better one or not, I will try the ones available when I get some time.

I tried a bunch on my optimus v and the 60687 prl seemed the best in my area so that's what I'm trying right now

3G speeds in my area are god awful. I am lucky to get 100 down 150 up. If this would even give me a consistent connection it would be an improvement. I guess I will mess with this after work tomorrow.

New prl seems to have helped. Won't say it's faster but connection is more consistent. Speeds don't seem to fluctuate up and down like they used to before.

Will keep testing

Has anybody else had trouble trying to open a file using QPST RL Editor (Roaming List Editor)?

I'm using Windows 7 Home edition (32-bit). I can launch this program, but any time I attempt to open a file (clicking the Open-icon or File>Open), I get an error that says "QPST Roaming List Editor has stopped working"... "Windows is checking for a solution to the problem..." "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."

I'm running all QPST programs as Administrator in Windows XP SP2 compatibility mode.

It seems I have been able to save the 808C802D_sp.qcn and 808C802D_sp.rl0 files without a problem using the QPST Service Programming program.

Any advice?

I am using windows 7 ultimate 64-bit and the prl opens fine. wonder if you have a bad download of the file.
