OK the 60665 is back, update your PRL boys and girls

I did not know it was gone. I think my Sprint HTC Hero has had that PRL since I updated to Android 2.1.

Did your handset prompt you to update your PRL? Mine has not asked me to do anything of the sort.

what exactly is PRL? and how do you update this?

Its the preferred roaming list. Go into settings, about phone, system updates, update prl. Any fresh 2.1.2 rom guys have an issue with this force closing, and then not updating if you retry? "The application OMADM (process com.htc.android.omadm) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."

No did not ask to update, I did it myself, and I did not have 60665, mine was still on 60664 as of yesterday and I update it everyday to see, it did update 3 weeks ago to 60665 then it went back to 60664

weeks ago it updated to 65000...for a few hours. the devices auto downloaded and reverted back to 60664. 60665 popped last week.

I am guessing you do alot of roaming? Cause i dont see whats so great about this version. Care to explain why this PRL is a must have?

C&P

The Preferred Roaming List (PRL) is a database residing in a wireless (primarily CDMA) device, such as a cellphone, that contains information used during the system selection and acquisition process. In the case of RUIM-based CDMA devices, the PRL resides on the RUIM. The PRL indicates which bands, sub bands and service provider identifiers will be scanned and in what priority order. Without a PRL, the device may not be able to roam, i.e. obtain service outside of the home area. There may be cases where missing or corrupt PRL's can lead to a customer not having service at all.

On many networks, regularly updating the PRL is advised if the subscriber uses the device outside the home area frequently, particularly if they do so in multiple different areas. This allows the phone to choose the best roaming carriers, particularly "roaming partners" with whom the home carrier has a cost-saving roaming agreement, rather than using non-affiliated carriers. PRL files can also be used to identify home networks along with roaming partners, thus making the PRL an actual list that determines the total coverage of the subscriber, both home and roaming coverage.

you have to adb push the update for that steamingloaf.

adb push <location of file> OMADM.apk /system/apps/OMADM.apk

fixed OMADM.apk can be found on XDA

I updated last night, as well... downgraded my radio for better battery life.

Strangely enough, like I said in my previous, I already had this PRL update on my Sprint HTC Hero. However, this thread did remind me to check the PRL on my wife's Sprint Palm Pre. It was still on 60663. ;)

Anyway, thanks for heads up. Good stuff. :D
