Root prl update

If I'm rooted is it possible to do any of the updates,mainly the prl, or will they mess thing up? I've searched but this is the one thing I can't figure out. Thanks.

You can update PRL and Profile safely.

i do it all the time and havent had an issue yet. but then again, i flip flop between alot of the roms to ck them out.
