Just wanted to let everyone know that there is a prl update through *228 it will bring you. Up to prl 3027 injoy.

oh ok ty. Don't you have to pay 10 cents a minute if you roam?

The name is misleading. It is a database of all the towers your phone can connect to, whether owned by Metro or another carrier. So, staying up to date on the prl is a good thing even if you never plan to leave your home area.

Also you have to have the right prl to get a 3g signal with metro it is at least 3020 for 3g so it has a lot to do with the signal u have in a coverage area not just roaming

Metropcs doesn't charge for roaming. Its a pay in advance if you know you'll have to roam. Otherwise metro has extended nationwide coverage. Which jumps off Verizon and sometimes sprint. All carriers do it.

I don't know why you say Metropcs doesn't charge for roaming? Ok so they call it TravelTalk and you have to give them a credit card but they charge you 19 cents a minute which is a roaming fee. Anyway, one other question how do you get the password to unlock the Wi-Fi networks?

I think he was being honest. Every wifi network is owned by someone, not Metro. There are passwords to limit who can get on one. Only the owner could provide it.

I guess I'm just a little confused what is the purpose of Metropcs giving us Wi-Fi networks that you need a password to use? Am I suppose to try and contact these networks some how and ask them to give me a password which seems kind of silly to me. Are these networks free to use or do you have to pay a fee? Do you have to join Metropcs TravelTalk program to get the passwords? Does anyone here have a password to unlock any WiFi networks and if so what did you have to do to get it?

I believe it shows registered networks its for if you go to McDonald's you don't have to go to the service agreement page before you can browse the net it does it for you and for other free wifi hot spots

That's about all it does, yes. There is literally ZERO advantage to keeping Easy Wifi around. It's nearly spyware. Just get rid of it.

I live in Michigan and when I went to chicago I notice I got new networks that didn't require a password but when I clicked on them I got two options to choose from
1. forget
2. cancel

I tried both and neither one did anything. Then there were other networks that gave me two different options

1. connect
2. connect with pin

The connect one wanted a password and the connect with a pin loaded with a pin already there. The other thing is I got great reception while I was in Chicago 4 bars but my phone was stuck on 1x for some reason. I see some post about wifi tether. Do you have to root your phone for that?

metro doesnt really have 4g coverage in the state of illinois. thats extended home area for metro. you might get it in certain spots on occasion.

I just want to make sure you understand what wifi tethering does. All your posts are about getting wifi connected to your phone so you can use that for Internet access. Tethering is broadcasting your Internet connection on your phone by wifi so that other devices can use it to connect.
