Proactively block SMS in Hangouts?

Hi everyone. I recently switched to AIO/Cricket and have a Nexus 5 running 4.4.4 . I had a few numbers blocked on my old phone to prevent messages from coming through (old girlfriends, credit card spam, etc). In Hangouts, it looks like I can only block the number after they send me a new message. I'd rather be proactive and block them in advance. Is there a way to do that? I can't find a way to enter a number to block SMS's. I use Mr Number to block calls, and it works great for that, but it doesn't stop messages. Thanks!

You might be able to do a draft message and use that to block the number.
