Root probably dumb questions but.... (pre rooting questions)

in looking at the first few steps in the walk throughs it says i need to verify the hboot version and to go to settings>apps>uncheck fast boot (or whatever its specifically called). I dont have that option. the only things in there are:
unknown sources
quick launch
manage apps
running services
development (and its not there either)
storage use

the other question is that i see guides for 2.3.3 and 2.3.5, im currently on 2.3.4... do i need to go in any specific directions?

Don't base it on your android version number. What is your H-boot? Pull the battery out of the phone, put it back in, and hold power + Volume down.

With that information we can point you to the correct guide.


You dont have to worry about fastboot if you just pull the battery out as I instructed

Are you sure you have the original HTC EVO 4G and not the HTC EVO Shift?
