I just got my Incredible a couple a days ago and I'm having a problem after I pinch to zoom. Half the time after I do a pinch to zoom the phone still acts like I have two fingers on the screen. The buttons on the bottom don

I just bought an Incredible yesterday (December 14) and I'm having the EXACT SAME problem. And same deal, I can "fix" it by turning the phone off and back on. I was thinking about returning it and getting a new one.

Have you gotten anywhere on this?

My wife got an Incredible the same time I did, and hers doesn't seem to have any problems.

No, I haven't gotten anywhere on this. I talked to a HTC tech for sometime and he eventually told me to take it to a cooperate Verizon store to see if they could switch it out but they would only give me a refurb unit since I didn't buy it from them. I will wait till early next week and take it in to BB again and have them switch it one more time.

Same exact problem I am having... I have only had the phone for 6 days now. The first time it happened it would lock up all the time (while browsing the net, and freeze), so I took it back and got an exchange (the second day). Now it will do the same silly zooming crap as before but now it won't freeze. I took the "ghost armor" off of the screen thinking it was that, but no results. I even tried the "hard reset" and formatted the device... no luck still. I am angry. I'll be taking the phone back and exchanging it for a DIFFERENT droid phone...

any suggestions?

Everyone who has this problem, take it back. There's a free program in the App Market called Multitouch Test. I ran it and could see what's happening -- when I touch with two fingers, the screen doesn't know I let go of one of the fingers. I'm thinking HTC shipped a batch of problem devices. I took mine back and got a replacement and this one is fine. Mine came from Best Buy in Toledo, Ohio. And Greg, it sounds like the replacement you got was from the same batch as well, so definitely take that one back too.

Hey new here, new to the android and smartphone world. I just picked up an Incredible also. I love everything about the phone, except the pinch-to-zoom issue. I just got mine exchanged at BestBuy over at Cleveland, Ohio. Anyway hopefully this one will be good. This seems to be a fairly new issue. Searches aren't seeming to bring up the issue, so it must be like you said just happened to be a bad batch of phones that went out recently.

Edit: Well I got my replacement phone activated and setup to find out that it still does the exact same thing. Several times I've already accidentally tapped the home screen with more than one finger and got it in to pinch to zoom mode and then have to repeatedly tap the screen to try and get.it out of zoom mode. I'm going to try one more then maybe I may end up switching to the fascinate.

Same problem with HTC Incredible. I've seen it mostly when viewing photos, both with stock and downloaded viewers.

I FOUND A SOLUTION !!!!!!!!

Tap the screen with 2 fingers once or twice - it unlocks !!. If it doesnt work right away. plant one finger on the screen and tap another spot with another finger. Once it unlocks it behaves better for a while.

It shouldn't be this flakey. Sigh

Hope this helps

Thanks for the tip rogersails. I can see how the two finger tap works sometimes using the app that jeffcogs pointed out. I'm going to take it back again but not looking forward to the holiday crowds.

Having the same issue. Very irritating and happens constantly.

My mother has one from the original batch, with an AMOLED screen, and it does not do this.
