I am S-on
Followed Scotty's guide: http://androidforums.com/rezound-all-things-root/499172-how-manually-flash-roms.html
To install Slim Rom: [ROM][06/29][Slim Rom v1.6.1] Desensed/Tweaks/Rooted OTA 3.14.605.10 - xda-developers
I got to Step 8 and ran into a serious problem where as of now, the phone is useless.
I saw the white HTC flash screen, but after that the phone turns off. I then have to do a battery pull to get it to boot at all. In HBoot I get some of the green writing that says "wrong image!", then...
It doesn't matter if I choose yes or no, it will reboot to the flash screen then turn off. I then have to pull the battery to get it to boot at all.
I think the source of my problem may be in Step 5. I'll annotate with questions.
>5)put your boot image into the same folder as your adb/fastboot. put your recovery
>image into this folder as well.
I DL the Slim ROM, unzipped it and put the boot.img there if that's what it means. Since I rooted my phone 2 weeks ago, I don't remember exactly what the "recovery image" is, but I assumed that since I followed Scotty's instructions for rooting, it must be in there already.
>>put your roms flashable .zip file onto the root of your sd card.
I did get confused by this. I put the entire PH98IMG.zip from the ROM onto my SD card, even though I just put the boot.img FROM that zip onto my C:
>6)make sure usb debugging is enabled and plug in your phone.
But I already had my phone plugged in in order to move the PH98IMG.zip to the root of the SD card? Why would #6 be stated if I already plugged it in to do #5?
I'll be eagerly awaiting assistance, while trying not to panic over a bricked phone.
Edit1: I manually removed the PH98IMG.zip and I can now get to past the "wrong image!" in HBoot. BUT I still can't boot up past the splash screen. I did a restore in recovery and still nada.
Edit2: Did a wipe of cache, dalvik-cache, did a factory reset. Did a restore then tried to flash the superuser zip but I'm getting an error. Probably because I'm already rooted? The error is after "creating SYSTEM...blahblah" Then says (Status 0).
Edit3: Came across the info on flashing the old firmware patch since I'm coming from GB. After "flashing" the ROM (install the update in HBoot) I am not given the option to then flash the patch, only to reboot. So I have to do those separately and after pulling the battery. Still nada.
Edit4: I have suspected it's a kernel issue, so followed this post to flash the maintool http://androidforums.com/rezound-all-things-root/569823-help.html. No go.
So I flashed the stock ROM. Same thing

8)launch your recovery:
fastboot boot <recovery name>.img
where <recovery name> is the exact name of your image.
example:
fastboot boot recovery-ra-vigor-3.13-gnm.img
is what i use, since i use amon recovery.
youll see a nifty green status bar at the top right as it downloads to the phone. youll then see white htc screen, followed by your recoverys main menu, just like youd entered it thru hboot, the quickboot,or rom manager.

if you had followed the directions correctly, step 6 is the when you need to connect your phone tothe PC. the other steps can be done just on the pc,no phone.
