i currently have darkslide installed but im trying to go back to stock so i can install apex. i tried making a backup of darkslide before i went back to stock using rom manager and all it does is reboot. i looked in manage and restore and there was no backup for darkslide. i got fed up with it so i was just going to go back to stock without backing it up but it wont. i tried restoring to stock using rom manager and also using bootstrapper but nothing. all it does it reboot into darkslide. i tried holding the camera button and the volume up button but it will not go into bootloader. any suggestions?

Both recovery (bootstrap) and rom manager use recovery so you need to get that to work before RM will work.

Thing to try:

  • open bootstrap and tap the top button. You should see the app is granted superuser permissions, followed by "success!". If you don't get superuser permission, see next step.
  • Open superuser app, tap bootstrap and rom manager and choose "forget" for both. Then re-do first step.
  • Open rom manager and tap "Flash CWM Recovery", then see if recovery works.
  • Uninstall and reinstall both from market, then try again.

Have you tried to backup or restore just using bootstrap and going into clockwork recovery. I was never able to get ROM manager to do this for me and always had to work around it. However, after going back to stock and reinstalling ROM Manager it works fine.

Well honestly right after I posted this I tried it again and it worked. Just like taking your car to a mechanic, it messes up but when you try to show someone it works like a champ. I do apprecitate the help tho. The way its been acting it will do it again.

Go into superuser, tap settings and scroll to the bottom, and tap to check for updates. I have v2.3.1-ef.

Yeah that's the version I have. I tried backing up my stock apex before I installed a theme an it did the same thing again. I did your little trick on going into su and denying and reaccepting permissions and that worked. Thanks.
