Problem booting into recovert menu.

I'm trying to help a friend who is having battery problems with a Nextbook model NextP12 running Android 4.0.3. Nextbook technical support have suggested a Factory reset.

The first instruction is (with the Nextbook powered off press and hold Volume down and the power button until you see the Green Android with the 1st menu; you will incur message "Performing Upgrade Please wait").

What actually happens is that you see the green android with the red triangle with explanation symbol.

Note that the Nextbook will boot normally.

I've done extensive searches, but most of what I find talks about custom ROMs.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

BTW the battery problem is that the battery loses charge rapidly.

Thanks for the reply. I've already tried that. It didn't help with the battery problem. Probably should have mentioned that in my post.

What I really need now is a solution to the green android with the red triangle with explanation symbol.

try pressing the volume down key when you see the droid+triangle, iirc that's the recovery command. or you can try:

restart your device.

download this: Dev-Host - adb_fastboot_drivers.zip - The Ultimate Free File Hosting / File Sharing Service

unzip it to a folder on your desktop, open the folder, shift+ right-click in the window, select "Open command window here"

type:

adb reboot recovery

into the command line, and your phone should reboot into recovery mode.
