Help Problem connecting to WiFi network that uses Shared protocol

I am visiting a friend and cannot connect to his WiFi network.

His network uses Shared WEP rather than Open and I do not see any options to change this in the WiFi configuration (running 2.2).

I downloaded WiFI Advanced Configuration Editor but as I have not managed to connect to the network it does not show up in the list of networks available to edit.

Any ideas on how I could get the connection to work?

You need to specify what exactly you are trying to connect and what you are connecting to. (Names of devices) |Else you could b looking 'till it's time to go home.
Not trying to b rude but all you'll get is ...... Huh? without details.

Are you sure he's not using hidden SSID?
From experience Froyo can have issues with this. I found the way to do it was to unhide the SSID and connect to it then hide it again and you should then be able to select it in Advanced Configuration Manger and select the 'Hidden' option.
To make sure the phone can actually see the network you can download WiFi analyzer to view all available networks.
