Root problem installing cyanogen mod with rom manager

undone98

Newbie
i just tried using the rom manager to install cyanogen 6.1.2 on to my phone and it just went to a screen of a triangle with an exclamation point and my phone laying next to it. did i brick my phone?

At least post what you did to fix it.

So the next person that panics will see this and try it and breathe their own sigh of relief....

i didn't fix it i just restarted it a few times and eventually it started normally i tried it again and got the same symbol so i'm hoping maybe someone has a possible explnation?

Yes. What was happening was you were booting into the stock recovery system. Explain more what you've done to your phone lately, maybe? Do you have ROM Manager on it? Are you running Ultimate Droid or Bugless Beast?

OK, start from scratch. You were on Bugless...You tried to use ROM manager to install Cyanogenmod and it crashes on reboot, right?

Whne you used ROM manager to install the ROM, it should have aksed you to 1) wipe, and 2) make a backup, right?

I'm assuming that you have ClockworkMod Recovery installed....

So, boot into recovery --> nandroid --> restore and pick the one with today's date. if more than one have today's date, I'd pick the one with the time closest to when you first started all this.

Are you running Ultimate Droid or Bugless Beast?

i'm running bugless beast but i'm <snip>
Now how did I guess? Months of hanging out only in the rescue squad area of DF. BB and UD are notorious for this.

Do as johngalt suggested, then once you get your phone booted up, open rom manager and near the bottom, flash alternate recovery (SPRecovery) then back to the top to flash CWRecovery. If you don't get a success message within a few seconds, do it over again until you do.

good luck

I'm having the same issue as teddyearp, but boot into recovery is producing the same crash. Is it possible that the device just isn't rooted properly? I used VISIONary and wasn't given any clear indication that the permaroot worked (unlike the explicit confirmation I got when I did the temproot). It does say that ROMmanager has superuser access though. I'm confused...

Just to be clear, I'm not the one having any problems with my phone in this thread.

You say you have rom manager, have you used it to flash Clockworkmod recovery and/or SPRecovery?

So are you good? And where did you get CWRecovery 3.0.0.5? The current rom manager version is 3.0.0.7, is that what you're talking about? And the most current version of CWRecovery available within rom manager is 2.5.0.1.
