Help problem installing OTA 4.1.2 update

I have an international GNEX. It was bought in June but when I discovered it was Yakjuxw I rooted and installed the stock ICS Yakju using the nexus root tool kit. I then got the OTA JB 4.1.1 update and all was good.

Today I got notification of the 4.1.2 update but it will not install.

I get the error:
Installing update...

Verifying current system...
file "/system/vendor/lib/libsec-ril.so" doesn't have any of expected sha1 sums; checking cache
failed to stat "/cache/saved.file": No such file or directory

I'm having the same issue. Dunno whats going on. Im on STOCK rom, rooted, unlocked, Franco Kernel Milestone6. Whenever i try to install the OTA, it is opened with Clockwork Recovery upon reboot, and it keeps getting that same error.

Have you been able to get the ota installed?

It happens because you're on a custom recovery as the OTA requires the stock recovery to successfully update. The way to resolve it is to go back to complete stock, then wait for the update - this usually happens within minutes after the first reboot - and then when it reboots and applies the update reboot for the second time fully and sign into your Goolge account. After that you are good to go to flash your custom recovery and re-root.

Alternatively, I'd go and download the latest factory image for your specific GNex from here https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images and flash via adb - this is the least cumbersome and cleanest method. After the initial flash proceed same way as described above.

So, let me get this straight. Im already on Stock recovery and im about to unroot as well (using Wug's amazing utility). Afterwards ill download the ota and let it flash. After its done, ill copy my stuff back onto my phone and re download my apps (no probelm there)....

So, what youre suggesting, downloading the factory image; would be like doing a clean install, insted of an update sorta thing?

Thanks for the input man!

Yes, that's correct! But it would be a complete JB 4.1.2 ROM where virtually nothing can go wrong, except if you choose the wrong image for your phone. ;)
