Help Problem: Upgrading From v1.6 to v2.1

dle13

Lurker
I just received my Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 in the mail yesterday from Texas and it came with v1.6 Android. I live in Massachusetts, US, and have seen other people use a Xperia with v2.1. When I tried to upgrade it to v2.1 on the phone and the computer, the only result was "You have the latest version." PC Companion and Update Service did not detect any new updates to v2.1 I've tried many troubleshooters and etc. on the website, but none of them have worked so far.

Can anyone provide me with some advice on how to upgrade it?

Thank you.

Edit: I've read that in the US Android OS Version 2.1 is not available yet, along with Backup Install?

I am in the UK so I do not know the full story, but I believe that AT&T are the only carrier that have not released 2.1

i have no idea if they plan to or not, but if you wish, you could root, and debrand to get 2.1 or a 2.2 custom ROM

I guess I'll just wait and see if they will update it anytime soon.
you will probably never get it since at&t is going to quit selling the x10 in March ... 2.1 is OLD, so there is NO excuse for them not releasing it by now...... I went through di Vinci and for $14 was able to debrand and then as soon as I synced the phone,it told me an update was available and voila,: I now have 2.1. :-)
