Help Problem with Battery

Apologies if this has already been asked but my battery is draining even with the phone being switched off, I can charge the phone for over 12hours, switch it off and switch it back on a couple of hours later and the battery is starting to drain. Within a day it's almost completely drained without turning the phone on or using at all. IT happened about two months ago. I reset the phone back to factory settings and this helped. I slowly added applications, and still no problem. I haven't downloaded any applications for about six weeks now and the problem has just started again. I really don't want to have to reset the phone again. Has anyone had/got this problem? If so, any ideas on how to fix the problem? If it is an application that is doing this, is there any way to check which one?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Try battery wiget monitor or many others out there fully charge the battery try not to use your phone untill it is about to die and then check use stats and see what the hell is stealing all your juice.
Im sure there are other pepole from the forum family will have more ideas about this
so hang in there im sure there is a solution for you .
Also failling all else you may just have a duff battery.

Check battery usage stats as mentioned above

Settings -> About Phone -> Battery -> Battery Use. Display should be the highest by far.

Also, turn on USB Debugging.

Settings -> Applications -> Development -> USB Debugging. Just hit ok when it gives you the message about being a it being a developmental mode, it's nothing to worry about.

Also, what are your sync settings?

What's the benefit of USB Debugging with regards battery?

Thanks for your reply :), will do all that you have mentioned. Not sure what my sync settings are, how would I find that out? :confused:

I had Advanced Task Killer on as the woman at Phones 4U customer service advised me to install it after I called the first time I had the problem with my battery :(. However since reading several threads I have taken it off along with doing other things and so far so good, the problem hasn't came back, fingers crossed. ;)

Settings -> Accounts & Sync.

If there's a tick in the box next to "Auto Sync" the apps underneath will be using your data connection to check for updates/new emails/new FB messages at certain, specified intervals. This can have a negative impact on your battery.

I've taken autosync off as I don't need to know what's going on via FB or read emails as soon as they arrive so I just check stuff manually when I need to. You could do the same, or you could play about with the intervals dependant on what fits in with what you need Vs the best battery life.

If you have auto sync on, you can disable things like News & Weather and Stocks as I've yet to encounter anyone who actually has those enabled. Tis up to you though.

Apps downloaded from the market place have their own sync settings too, and they're generally not covered in the Accounts & Sync Menu so you'd need to play about with those specific apps to change their settings.
