Problem with books on Kobo

Hi
I am new to this forum and have just bought a new Samsung Galaxy S11 phone. As I am not as young as some I am a bit challenged by some of this new technology, so forgive me if I ask what seem like stupid questions.

I have downloaded a number of free books from Kobo and thought that was wonderful as whenever I was without a book I would have something to read.

That worked beautifully for the first 2 or 3 weeks. However now when I turn the phone back on and try to read my books on Kobo they are there but say that downloading has paused (even though I have downloaded them now at least 6 times). Then they proceed to download again if I am connected to Wi Fi or activate the date.
I was caught out again last week when I was at the doctors, no wifi, no data connection available and no books available to read even though they were showing under I'm reading.
I want to get this sorted out as one of the reasons for purchasing this phone and the Galaxy tab was to be able to download books and read them on both devices on a train, plane, boat, hotel etc when I am travelling overseas.
However if they are only available when there is wifi or data connections this is not satisfactory.

Am I doing something wrong. As I said that didnt happen in the first 3 weeks but since then, every time I turn the phone off and on. They tell me they need to download.
I want to sort out this problem before I start purchasing books to download.

Thanks for any advice

Hello and welcome to the forums Janderra - thanks for joining! :)

I have not used the Kobo app but would assume, the same as you, that once you download the book, you should have it in your phone's memory.

I will have a bit of a look and see what I can find for you :)

I'd uninstall the Kobo app (or its updates, if it'd be stock) and install it again.
BTW, with the Kindle app I'd never such a problem.
