Help Problem with calls: They can't hear me - I can't hear them.

I've had my S3 for about three months without any real problems, but now I'm experiencing trouble with calls, and it's really frustrating.

This usually happens about 4/10 calls:

When I call someone I get no dial-tone, no nothing. There is no sound indicating that I'm actually making a call. When whoever I'm calling answers they cant hear me and I cant hear them. If I hang up and try calling back it's usually fine. This problem only occurs when I call someone. I've never experienced it the other way around.

What on earth can this be? The microphone and speaker obviously isn't at fault, because it usually works fine. Anyone?

Having issues as well...according to the sprint store they're upgrading to 4g in my area and this is just the way it's going to be for a few months. (Cool.)
Explains as to why my moms dinky phone is having issues as well.
Don't know if you already have upgraded towers where you're at or whatever, just sayin :)

Make a phone call, press the menu button, and turn off "noise reduction." the noise reduction on the s3 either cuts off your voice or diminish it completely.

Try updating the profile under settings>system update.

My phone is a metro pcs galaxy s4. Worked fine for me. Gave to my son and changed it to his number still on metro. He could hear no sound on a call whether incoming or outgoing and placing on speakerphone did not help. I found this answer on another forum. If anyone is still having this issue it is simply the ok google option in google now tying up the phones mic or what not. Multiple reboots did not help and I had already ruled out a rouge app. The mic was working fine as calls could be placed using hangouts. I was about to factory rest the phone which my son did not want when I found this fix. Hope this helps someone else before they factory reset, buy a new sim card or take the phone to be repaired replaced.

Hi.
Where do I find the "ok google" option please. I have a Samsung S4 and I too am experiencing no dial tone or unable to hear conNecton.
Thank you very much

Well, sometimes the answer is much simpler than all this, did you try to clean the mic hole at the bottom with a needle, sometimes dust clogs it.
