Help Problem with connect WEP Security on JC4 & JC5

Hi everybody,

Since I flash my phone to JC4, I couldn't connect to a WIFI which has WEP security. It's the same problem on JC5 too. Is there anyone have this issue like me? And Can someone suggest a solution for this please

Do you have the opportunity to change the AP to use WPA? It's more secure, you can crack open WEP with a broken biscuit.

Hi,

Before I flash to JC4 & JC5, I was using JB2 and it was easy toconnect to WEP security WIFI. So I don't think problem is that. But thank you for your suggestion.

Have u done local time setup. set it and try.

I also faced this issue and now it is ok . BUT, wife is not detecting the SSID whic is in the third room .

I don't understand what you mean here "local time setup" can you make me clear here please? And As I told When I was on JB2 I could connect to the same WEP security.

You didn't flash the csc right? I had wifi problems in JC6, but no issues with JC5.

I think what he meant by local time, is the time set on the phone.

Yes I didn't flash with CSC. And I had to set the time for my phone because it went wrong when I flashed to JC5 but I don't think it relate to WIFI issues like these.

what i wanted to say is that with wep the "security" is nothing more than an illusion. if the ap is under your controll it is highly recommended to change encryption
to wpa or higher since wep can be cracked within seconds.
nevertheless if you dont controll the ap you could try to change the baseband of your phone to ih8 and see if rhis works for you.

However I see he's from Austria so English may not be his first language so it's understandable if gets such a word wrong

You got this problem through WIFI or 3G ?

If the problem exist in both case then i dont have answer.

If it exist on wifi , try switch off and switching ON wifi. I too have the same issue, i do switch off and on whenever i open web.I do this even when the wifi is on continuously.

If it exist only with 3G then try to register your mail ID when you open antroid market ( yes ! i know this is nothing to do with such problem but i did and solved this issue).

If you did so and the same problem you got still, try here.

:setting/wireless control / mobile network setting / access point name , ( open this ) / check the authentification with normal(PAP).

Try this !!!

Do you have wifi in your home ? or trying to public free network.

I agree with i7500 that it has got some wifi receiver problem. I checked with i7500 and HTC magic in a same place. where HTC won the game by showing two three wifi ID but i7500 did not .

If you are pointing out this issue, nothing we can do man.

let us wait for 2.1 OS.

If not, can you please explain why it is not working? You don't see the network on your device? You try to connect but it won't let you? What does it say?

We can't really help if we don't have those information.

PS: And yes, WEP security can be cracked in seconds, but most people won't. Unless you live in a dense urban area or you know that your neighbor knows this kind of stuff, WEP will do the job.

if i crack the wep, would it not affct any other process in the mobile.

They meant that wep is insecure, and your AP can be cracked/hacked if you use it. And someone may be using your Internet connection and possibly hack you PC or what have you.
