Root Problem with CWM after Gingerbread Flash

I just flashed my phone to EJ06 Gingerbread Rooted Image with CWM5. I then turned it off and tried to boot into CWM with Vol. Up and Power Button held. I can't get into the CWM screen I'm used to seeing. I see a Samsung Recovery Utils for BML. I am trying to format my SD card and I can't seem to do anything from this menu. Can someone give me some insight on where I'm wrong???

I had the very same issue, and i do not know what causes it.

You could try the update method for CWM, but I just

1. Odin to GB stock.
2. OCR with shabbys program.
3. Then install CWM via Odin.
4. Then I made a backup via CWM.

I know it is some extra steps, but it doesn't take long at all. And by backing up as in step 4. I can always go back to a rooted gb with cwm, and work from there, without going through steps 1-3.

That is an option. I thought that the ROM I was flashing to included CWM 5. It does doesn't it? I am just wondering why I can't access it. I've flashed it three times now. LOL.

Like I said, I had the same issue, so I quit wondering about it, and did the steps above. The end result is the same.

I know some people have gotten it to work, and that is great, but I wasn't one of them. It happens.

I'm glad there is a workaround. I, unfortunately, am the type of person that will screw around with it time and time again wondering why it isn't working. It eats at me. Haha. I don't really see why it wouldn't work for some since ODIN works the same for every phone. I'm perturbed.

I am the same way. but after a few times, i just accepted that I could not. i wanted to try out ctmod-gb, because i liked the froyo version, so I had to move on. Those steps work for me, and that's what counts right now.

I originally couldn't do the KMS root option for froyo. And many others could not either. Along comes the Odin method, and all is well with the world.

I have decided that whatever method that works is going to be the one i use, and not worry about the ones that don't.

Thanks for your help man. How do you like CTMod GB? I thought about trying it too. Have you tried the 187 MOD GB? I have considered that as well.

So far I love ctmod. Heres why... It is fast, elegant, and serves as a great base to build up from. Just the basics, and then YOU add what YOU want. I love the KISS approach.

Carefully read Bloodawn's original post and review the the thread (lot's of answers in there., and get the zip with the removed apps if you want to re-install them.

I did try 187, but i did not care for it. Just because I like to pick which apps I like to use, which again, is why i like ctmod.

Good luck!

I will check that out. I like the same approach. I love a clean, simple, fast phone! You haven't had any problems with getting any app working with it? Just curious.

reinstalled last night, now adding my apps. No problems, other than the known issues posted in the thread, and those are getting fixed.

I want to remind you about remembering the stick.zip step when installing Hroarks CWM5.

Just follow the steps in the readme, and you should be good to go.

inigo's new mod also looks interesting...

i just posted this in the odin thread but here's a link to it anyway. it solves some problems.

Rooted Gingerbread with dta2sd, ClockworkMod-based recovery and Koumakernel .1

I just installed your ROM just to check it out. I have a question for you. The launcher looks stock but I don't have any apps on the launcher so to speak. I have the app drawer button. On the left of that I have a LAB and on the right a RAB button. They won't do anything or let me change them. Can you tell me how to edit those or why nothing is there?

I didn't see inigo's new mod. Can you point me to where that is?

that's adw launcher's default look. stands for left action button, right action button. just drop what you want on to them. i usually just long-press phone and drop it left and browser right. if i do make it a more custom rom, i will make sure some are there.
