problem with flashing VR 3.0

[w]

Lurker
hi all,

After reading available and related FAQs and forum posts on villainrom forum and on XDA, I attempted a flash of my SGS2. I was coming from the latest available CF-Root (v4.1 KG6). What i did:

  1. downloaded VR3.0 zip and put it in root of internal sd card
  2. boot phone into CWM, did a factory wipe and a cache wipe
  3. Then installed zip from sdcard
  4. reboot
What happened was:

  1. on boot phone gets stuck at yellow triangle screen. (this is not a loop, just stays put). I left i here for over an hour, so assumed something was not right here.
  2. could not boot into CWM.
  3. Could boot into download mode
What i tried this morning was put the phone into download mode, and then use ODIN to flash CF-Root again.

After flashing CF-Root and reboot the phone started up ok and surprisingly had VR 3.0
when i check out the about phone:
Android version: 2.3.5
Baseband version: KG2
Kernel: 2.6.35.7-I19100XXKG6-CL425236se,unfra@SEP-53#2
Build Number: VillainRom 3.0

This looks wrong to me. Can anyone help advise what i need to do?

thanks
