Root Problem with Gmail and HTC Mail

Hi,
Does anyone know how to stop my HTC Desire retrieving my gmails twice?
It looks like the Gmail app and the HTC Mail app are both retrieveing at the same time. I can't uninstall either of these apps, does anyone know how to fix this?

Do you mean you are getting two notifications? If so, just disable notifications in one of the programs.

If you are actually seeing the message twice in each inbox, then I'm stumped...
