Help Problem with google voice

So right now im on a cdma galaxy nexus and i hate having to dial in to get my voicemail. Thats one thing i kinda missed about my iphone is that it had visual voicemail right there. Anyways i got google voice and all seemed well but when i made test calls to see if it worked it turns out that the voicemail still goes to my verizon voicemail even when i clearly see it says in the settings google voice. I should probably also note that it says " unfortunately your network carrier is currently not supported for automatic voicemail configuration." but it still says google voice after i hit ok. So is there any way to fix this problem?

Check the google voice web page configuration. There also some help pages there you might try.

I've had GV since My Droid Incredible and never had a problem with it, so it does work with VZW.

Dial *71 then your ten digit GV number, and hit "send." You'll hear three quick beeps then it will hang up. After that it should work.

Your Google voice number is the one you picked when you set up up GV. What *71 does is it will forward your missed calls from your cell number to your GV voicemail instead of your Verizon voicemail. One thing I've noticed is that your phone will ring more times before going to VM.
Another cool feature is after you do this if you have Gmail open on your computer and you get a call to your cell phone you Gmail will also ring and you can answer on your computer.

I logged in just to say thank you for this. I am using an old demo I got back in the day and pretty sure I have been missing important voicemails. Thanks again! :D
