Problem with notification of Updates

About 3 days ago, I got some Verizon Update pushed to my phone, just happened when I turned it on.

Now everytime I boot up the phone it gives the little APP update icon in the bar at the top..I pull it down says there are 3 apps to update. So I open it and there are no apps that pop up to the top to update?

This has never happened before..any ideas?

It's just annoying...not really a problem.

Same thing happening with me. When you click the android update icon it used to open the Android Market and allow you to update whaatever apps needed it. Now it just opend the Market without anything happening.

Not rooted. Using stock operating system. Any thoughts?

Think that happened to me twice while still stock. Not sure why but maybe it has something to do with a particular app? Not sure on this one because after it happened to me a couple times it never happened again. Rooted shortly after that and haven't had a problem with the market so not sure what's going on.

Side note what did VZW push as an update?

Not sure as for market updates but you can stop vzw updates on rooted phones.

Oddly enough just got an email from vzw talking about new updated tos and some other things. Being rooted i don't use this stuff but maybe it has something to do with it? Long shot but just trying to throw more ideas out there on this strange issue.

do you have the amazon app store app installed? could be one of those apps....

I do...how do I update those apps that I've downloaded from Amazon? I think you're on to something here...but strange that we all have "3" that we can't find.

Go into the Amazon app, press your menu key, select My Apps, and go to the Update Available tab.

On a side note, if this happened after receiving an update, it's possible that the Market isn't registering whatever new version of software you've received, though that's probably unlikely. With some ROMs the Market won't recognize the new OS. So even though there are updates waiting, upon loading Market the system doesn't see the app as valid for your phone and hides it from view, making it appear as if there are no updates. The odds of this happening with a carrier approved release is pretty small, though.

Thanks - it wasn't through the Amazon app store, so maybe it's just something funky with the ROM as you said.

I had the same problem for about 2 weeks on a stock handset. No other apps were updating. Then I got an update to Go SMS and have not had it come back since(about a week ago). I was getting the notification about once a day.

No GoSMS here, so it must be happening with a variety of apps.

it could be the user account associated with the app store. for awhile, I had the update app notificaiton, but when I went to update, the market would ask for my youtube e-mail address (when in fact I do not). so i deleted that "youtube" e-mail account, and have not had that problem since then.

Got the suggestion from another board to clear the cache of the market app. I did this yesterday, and so far, no notification of invisible apps. It may be the solution.
