Problem with permissions

Djood

Lurker
Hey there,
Just received my Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra and have been having issues with permissions ever since.

As you can clearly see on the image I uploaded, there is just nothing appearing in said settings. It goes the same for all applications I'm trying to dive into.
Has anyone experienced anything similar ? Any suggestions to fix this ? I looked all over the web but can't find any other thread mentioning such problem.

Phone is up to date of course, and I'd like to know if there is any solution to it before going through factory reset since it took me a long time to set the phone up.

Thanks.

i think in english for android it is called permissions.

so none of your apps are getting permissions? and the same goes for contacts? what shows up if go to phone's settings>privacy>permission manager? it should list all of the apps with permissions.

Hey, It is indeed called permissions and have changed the title of this post consequently, thank you for this clarification.
Now that the wording is correct, I actually found two other threads on the same topic on the samsung forums. It looks like it affects quite some people on a randomly manner.

Permissions Page is just fully blanked. In fact, I can slide the blue dot to indeed authorize things to work, but I just can't see it. I went to a Samsung specialist in a shop near my place, and he actually linked my Galaxy Watch in a blind manner. The guy just knew where the permissions needed to be pressed on, so he did it on the blank page but admitted himself it's not that common.

Have you been applying any themes? There have been a couple of posts in the last few weeks from people who have applied a theme (through the Galaxy Themes) and found that some parts of the user interface become unreadable. If so, try turning the theme off.

You could try switching the display to dark mode instead and see whether the text is visible. This looks like white-on-white to me.

I actually went back to original theme and problem still applies. I found a workaround by changing policies in the Accessibility section which now highlight the outer letters. So it works for now but it's not the best design we could expect from such a sophisticated phone.

Have you tried rebooting since reverting theme? It's very unlikely that the phone was released like this, so my guess is that there was something buggy in the theme you used. And if it is buggy then it might need more than just removing to clear all of its effects (just guessing here, but I've played with third party themes on other devices and had problems with things being "left over" from previous themes). Maybe toggling dark and light modes might be worth a go (something that should force it to update text colours).

Hey. Thanks for those suggestions, appreciate but I tried everything that has been suggested here. There is several topics about this exact same problem I’m suffering from on samsung main website. Many other users have experienced this very similar bug and have tried also to reset the phone, changing theme, but it just stays that way.
My best bet is that Samsung will deploy an update fixing this for the affected phones.

Gents / Ladies,

I just want to ask if you have any idea on how to enable the permission for "FILES" app?? Screen shot attached for your reference. Thanks in advance.

Additional info guys, pls see attached screenshots for your reference. There's a difference between s20 and s22's file manager because of the lack of permision to the "FILE" app.

When I check permissions for the built in Files app, it is called "Files by Google". What region are you in? Is that a separate app I'm wondering?
