As we know, you can't pull the battery to clear out the phone's caches and other nooks and crannies. The equivalent is to hold down the power button for an extended length of time until a 2nd window pops up and the phone shuts off. It is the closest thing to a factory reset without doing a factory reset. My problem occurs when I try this. I hold the power button down, the "Power off, Airplane mode, Restart" window pops up. I continue to hold the button down until the "To restart your phone..." window pops up and counts down from 3, 2, 1. Then nothing happens. The window stays at 1 with the "busy" icon circling. It doesn't shut down. Does anyone know if I'm missing something or if there is another way to do the same thing. I'm not rooted.
