Help problem with predictive text

before the last update, if I spelled a word wrong, it would automatically plug in the word that I type, but now I have to manually click the word out of the suggestion area. anyone know why this is happening or how I can revert it?

Make sure the auto correction option is on. I set mine to very aggressive. Anything less and I have to select my words.

Along these same lines, can anyone explain to me why the algorithm for this phone is so ridiulous? On every other Android phone I have used, the percentage of times it guessed the word I wanted was very high (using swype). On this phone, it just constantly wants to choose words that I am not going for. It's amazing to me and even when I choose the drop down list, my word is rarely in there and these are common words! As I go along, it has gotten somewhat better but still nowhere close to what it should be. It's about the only thing about this phone that annoys me. I love the G3 :)

Just realized this is the s3 forum lmao.

But if you're on ics there should be a setting to how aggressive you want your predictive text. There was on my GNEX and Maxx. Idk why the s3 wouldn't have it.

I still recommend swiftkey. You will never have a bad prediction again. Well worth the money.

I'll check it out. It also annoys me that I type "red" and it goes me something that isn't even a word! (rer). Really?

Does anyone know if there is a place or a way to add/delete these non-words? User dictionary?

Update: I think I figured out how to add words but it certainly isn't intuitive and I don't think it's in the manual either. Grrrr

This is an example of how much swift key has made me a more accurate texter and the amount of key strokes it has saved me over time. It's amazing

You won't be disappointed  I don't usually push people towards paid apps but this is one of the few that I, along with many others, recommend. It takes a few days to learn your typing style, and you can import text from email, Facebook, Twitter, and SMS and once it learns you it's perfect

Would have been nice with swype but I'll give it a fair assessment. Thanks for the tip.

Update: Even though it doesn't have swype, I do like it. A lot less aggravating. It corrects my words accurately and doesn't drive me crazy. There's a lot to be said for that. Looks nice too. Who's responsible for this sorry excuse for swype? Samsung?

I really don't like the idea of having to use a 3rd party keyboard app that will collect all my data, including credit card numbers, especially when the old keyboard was working just fine before the last update

Millions of people use it with no problems. And just fyi, the stock keyboard does the exact same thing.

Stop over reacting.

Also, swype is a 3rd party keyboard also and not part of android just some phones come with it. Bet you wouldn't think twice about using that. :banghead:

Ok, don't be getting so snippy and FYI - EVERY Android phone I've had has some form of swype regardless of where it comes from. Oh and one last thing - all keyboards are NOT created equal but I did go back to the stock one again to give it another shot because I really do like swype. Now get over yourself already.

I'll say it again, just because your phone have had swype doesn't mean it's party of android. The thunderbolt didn't come with it. It's a 3rd party app just like any other keyboard

For that matter, how do you know the phone manufacturer is not also collecting data via the stock keyboard?
