Root problem with rooting

Newbie
I tried rooting my phone by copying the update:zip file into my phone.

I rebooted my samsung vibrant and now its stuck in this screen with an android picture saying "Downloading....Do not turn off target!!!

Its been like this for about an hour now and I dont know know if its working or my phone is frozen or something.

Has anyone ever come across this problem I would really like your help

Thanks, first time android user and rooter (Newbie)

yes i got it all figured out. I love this phone, it is alot faster than before and runs alot smoother. Nero v5 is what im using.

Also it sucks that after going through all that some here on the board are saying that the Froyo 2.2 is coming out today. Now I have to learn how to flash my phone back to stock. Oh well Im going to run this and see how other people feel about the 2.2 update

You don't want it anyway. A newer better custom ROM will come out based on the official release with all the crap we don't need taken out of it.

Same here. If my phone is doing well with these custom roms I am not going to change it. And these developers will make the froyo 2.2 even better.

I had the same problem and while I got my phone back working after I downloaded the "official" Froyo update, I can't seem to root my phone again it keeps giving me an error message when I try to reinstall packages. I would love some help here. The 1st time I rooted (before Froyo) it was super easy. HELP!....Please.

I'm not 100% sure about this, but I would be willing to bet that T-Mo and Sammy placed a few things on the phone to keep you from rooting after the update. I'm sure a work around will be had within a few days.
