Help problem with synchronizing to PC

bootlegs

Newbie
hey guys,

I'm new here and just bought the HTC incredible 2 for Verizon Wireless. I'm hoping I made the right decision not getting the Iphone, but so far the software for my computer has been giving me some trouble. Here's what happened:

I got my phone, and i charged it up. I plugged it into my computer with the usb cord, and it opened up a browser to some verizon software, and told me to insert the CD. The phone didnt come with a CD, so i pressed cancel and downloaded the Verizon program it took me to. That program froze on me and made me restart my computer on 3 separate tries to get it working.

SO, my question here is, do I need the VZmedia software or is there some better alternative? Ideally I'd like to transfer my music from my itunes to my phone.

Unrelated: what exactly is rooting?

Thanks for anyone who actually read all that, and thanks in advance for any suggestions offered!

I used Winamp. I was a little skeptical about using something other than itunes but I have learned to like it. There is also wireless syncing which is a plus. I have tried using doubletwist and it was a little laggy but I think that is because I have so many songs. There is another thing called itunes agent and it makes it so that you can use itunes to get music on to your phone but once the music is on there you have to use your own music app.

You can just ignore the VZ window that pops up. It's just more crap Verizon is pushing on you.

If you close the VZ screen a second window should pop up after you select Disk Drive on your phone. This screen will allow you to access your SD card. I use this screen to click and drag music files to the SD card.

this, and there is an "itunes agent" program or ap available that lets you sync with itunes if you prefer to use it. Personaly, I use the vzw program and it works fine with both phones I've used it on. Otherwise, you can mount it as a drive and just drag and drop the files like the quoted statement was telling you.

I have used just the stock player on my inc 2 and it has worked fine. On my original inc I had used mixzing because that stock player didn't work well with bluetooth.

I used winamp and wasn't super impressed with it, but again, that was on the original inc, not the inc 2. I always use winamp on my pc, but found the android version at the time to be clunky and buggy. It has probably been updated since then.

thanks for the help guys! I figured it out and my phone now has all my music on it. However, I think I am going to root my phone up to gingerbread so I think I will have to wipe it and put it all on again... not sure? anyway thanks! this thread can be closed

if you have an inc2 you should already be on GB....mine was updated in july sometime. Have you checked for updates? you should be at 2.3.3 for your android version...
