Root Problem with xRecovery

I checked up just about every thread on installing xRecovery on my Xperia X8 and I'm 99% sure I did all the steps correctly but I still can't launch xRecovery. Can anyone help me, I'm really at my wit's end.

You chmoded those files properly ?

Try pressing the button which is on the top of device when there is a Sony Ericsson text

Yep, all the read, write and execute boxes are ticked.

I tried both, no luck.
