Problems after the 4.3 update

The following issues only started occurring after the 4.3 update:

-Phone wont charge - my phone will only recognize it is plugged in if i turn the phone off, and then plug in the charger. At that point i can turn my phone back on and it will still charge.

-Transition Animation scale will not stay off. The other two animations in the developer options will stay off but this reverts back to x1.

-Unfortunately The Internet Has Stopped Working. I just just started getting this message today and its so bad it is freezing up my phone. Im not even in the internet app when this happens, its just random and constant.

-The camera does not have a silent feature anymore. The only way i have found to keep the camera from making all the annoying sounds is to have the phone on vibrate or silent.

Anyone else having these issues? I think this is unacceptable to happen from an update like this. My phone worked perfect before this update. Anyone have any fixes to these problems?

Charging and wifi could probably be fixed with factory reset.

I did experience similar problems with earlier updates on my S2 and S3.
All of which were solved by a reset.

As for the Shutter sound, I never had the option to turn it off. The only way to mute it, was by muting the phone (silent/vibrate). In fact, this is quite rare feature and not available in all S4 models. It varies by countries and regulations, it's actually quite a big deal for privacy and security reasons.

- Transition animation is a known issue right now. Launching the camera is one known way to reset it to 1.0

- Sounds like a software conflict from the update is causing force-closes. FDR is the best fix (and any other latent software issues).

- Camera Shutter Sound is, as mentioned, available by default per region. Otherwise, it's only available on a rooted phone. There's a line to edit in a features file that turns it on.

I'm having the transition animation issue too. I've also noticed that when I'm trying to send a text message or picture message, that when I start typing out the name of the person, it isn't pulling up the one I'm typing out. Very annoying.

To silence the camera, get the app "Enforced Stream Silencer". It's not in the AppStore but it's Kosher...just google for it.

Having the charging issue too. Pissing me off cause if you bump the charger and it disconnects for the slightest moment, you're screwed and have to turn it off again then plug it back in then turn it back on. Bunch of bull if you ask me.

There's another thread (or two) on the charging issue. While I don't like to see any of us have problems with our phones, I'm sorta relieved to have a few other people out there confirming my reality on this one, because it has been driving nuts.

And, no, the FDR didn't help it. At least not for me.

I use Pandora ALL the time and have never had any problems. Today (day 1 after 4.3 update) Pandora cuts in and out. I use folders in the bottom row of icons upon pressing the desired folder it opens / I choose the app / and the folder closes... Well not anymore the folders stay open.. After running the phone for a couple hours today I was prompted to download a required security update, apparently something or someone was trying to access my device (don't know what that was about) phone is a bit sluggish now also! I hate SAMSUNG and will never buy another, this is my 3rd gs4 (1st Wifi connection issues, 2nd charging issues and 3rd has always had Wifi issues, not as bad as my 1st one but always there and now this bs!! Motorola from now on!

Almost forgot also "unfortunately vitamo has stopped" keeps appearing

If there appears to be several problems that have only appeared right after an OTA update then chances are very high that there's quite a few corrupt files.

99% of the time a factory reset will fix any files that were corrupted during the OS install.

Motorola from now on!
Read up on how Motorola left all buyers of their top-of-the-line Photon 4G/Atrix high&dry by freezing them at ver. 2.5 despite promises of updating them to ver.4.0. There was even a petition against them. I'll NEVER go back to Moto.

Although I usually check the experience of others before making an expensive purchase, I unfortunately fell for the hype regarding the Amazing Galaxy S4 ..and its very short of amazing. .gesture control is gimmicky at best , scrolling with facial movements is useless and barely works, sharing files with other Samsung users is something I've never even tried! And to be honest ALL things are cool to have as long as basic smart phone operation isn't ignored. But phones not charging, wifi connection issues, and ota updates that screw up your very expensive phone..These issues just shouldn't exist and if you've done your research, which I unfortunately did AFTER THE FACT ..you will find that these issues have plagued Samsung devices all the way to gen 1. And as I said although the experience of others is something I consider before making a purchase MY PERSONAL experience is more valuable to me, and for me, my Razr was awesome, my Razr HD Max was also awesome. .and Samsung has disappointed me greatly!! Of course not everything about the device is bad..takes fantastic pictures, very fast and fluid device and an amazing screen. .

By the way after doing a master reset and spending an hour and a half setting my phone back the way I like it..it seems to be better ...haven't tried Pandora in my car yet, but hopefully it behaves better

I've said repeatedly that the Samsung features are "underwhelming" gimmicks, but I do consider the phone to be a very solid phone.

If you'd just bought before this update I can see how you'd be upset, but problems after updates are par for the course with smartphones. My Moto had an update go out after beta testing that was so bad they pulled it. And Apple has had a number of issues after updates. Some users are going to have problems. Mine seem to be limited to the charging issue.

I'm going to disagree. The majority of the issues you listed are Samsung software related or OTA update related from your carrier. Thus far every Samsung phone I've purchased has been directly from Google (ie; no TouchWiz, Samsung apps, or carrier tampered Android edits) and they've been rock solid while running pure Android.

You did make the right decision on the phone, but a bad decision on purchasing it branded. If you root the phone and install a custom rom, I'm posative you will have a much much better expereince with the GS4.
