Hey everyone,
I rooted my Ally last night using z4root and have been trying unsuccessfully to establish a wireless tether through Barnacle ever since. I'm on an HP dv6 laptop running Windows 7 with Intel My Wifi technology.
I've updated my wireless drivers, the computer sees the ad hoc network, but when I try to connect, I either get an error message saying that Windows can't connect to the network, or I see the wireless signal with a yellow exclamation point icon in the system tray.
Troubleshooting the connection doesn't work, and when I open up the Network and Sharing Center, Barnacle is listed as an Unidentified Network set to public access, which I don't have the option to change.
If it helps, my Ally has the latest Verizon zvc software update, and it looks like I have root v5.
I've done everything I can think of to troubleshoot the connection problem. Anyone have any better ideas? Thanks so much!
