Help Problems installing new OTA

So I have been prompted to install the new OTA on my Droid X. When I go to install it, the phone reboots and goes to the recovery screen with the green android, which then turns into an exclamation point and the phone reboots. When it comes back up it says software update failed.

Wondering the following:

1) Have there been any common installation problems for this new OTA?
2) Is there anywhere I can check for log output to see what the problem is?

Running rooted 2.3.15 (the official verizon OTA version). I renamed a few bloatware apks but I moved them back before doing the update.

Good morning, folks. I'm new here.

Look, I'm not going to pretend like I know a lot about the inner workings of an Android phone. In fact, the Droid X is my first one, and I've only had it for just over 30 days. I still have no clue what I'm doing. But, I need serious help.

Yesterday, I went to the software update screen on my phone in order to get to 2.2.1

However, at some point during that installation (I wasn't watching the whole time), something screwed up. When I came back to check on it, there was an odd looking screen that came up, which basically let me know without even reading it that something was wrong. It says "Bootloader" at the top, then a bunch of numbers underneath and an error code.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that the update failed and therefore there is no OS installed to run off of.

Verizon wants me to send me my phone in, and give me a refurb in exchange. I'm not down for that.

Using this link you've provided, can I simply install the stock 2.2 update from my computer, and try again?

Why should I have to send my phone in as "broken" when all it is is a software error.

Secondly, once I've acquired this file, how do I install it? Please help, as I have no damn phone or line of communication to anyone, currently!

I have 2.2 on my x and when I go to check for an update (2.2.1) it says I have the latest version...am I doing anything wrong?

I think if you want answers to your question, you should start a new thread. Otherwise, people might not see it. Also it would be good to provide some general information on your x like if it is rooted, themed, roms etc.

Another thing to mention is what condition it is in now after you've encountered the error. Can you still boot up or does it show nothing? It's hard to diagnose a problem without first knowing your X's history and the symtoms.

Sorry that I can't answer your question. I just want to steer you in a direction where you can get the most help.

Does anybody have a copy of this file they could send me? This was the plan of attack I had before getting on here tonight but his site is down.
