Root Problems locking the screen

For some reason my screen will not slide lock sometimes. The only way to get it back is to restart my phone. Did I turn something on or off that would do this?
 
Maybe I'm totally off the mark, but perhaps this is controlled by an internal application, which gets killed by your automatic task killer.
 
At someone elses suggestion I uninstalled the task killer and that may be what was doing it. The thing that weirds me out is the task killer was one of the first apps I downloaded and it didn't do anything till 3 days latter, why would that be?
 
Maybe the amount of free memory did not go low enough for the killer to kick in for 3 days?
