Root Problems rooting the Desire HD

mattc1983

Lurker
Hi, I have been following the cyanogenmod guide to root my Desire HD and have run into a problem and hoping someone here could help me out.

The guide I am following is here:

http://wiki.cyanogen...ire_HD:_Rooting

I am at the point which asks me to execute ./flash_image recovery recovery.img

I get the following error:

link_image[1995]: failed to link ./flash_image
CANNOT LINK EXECUTABLE

I've googled but can't seem to find anything significant. From what I can tell is that it is something to do with flash_image itself (bit of a guess) but it was downloaded from the guide link and I have tried re-downloading and trying again but get the same error.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Does rooting your phone "mess up" your warrenty/insurance?

Warranty yes, but there are ways of putting it back to factory state.

As for the insurance, it depends on how comprehensively they look at your phone when they examine it for the claim.

I've mine insured with Orange and one of the benefits of my bank account is mobile insurance. With the bank account, as far as I'm aware, they'll just send you a new/refurbished phone and repair your old one themselves.
